Urgent Word Question
What is the movement of a submarine called? I know they "dive" and "surface," but what are they doing when they're just traveling from one place to another?
Ships "sail," even when they don't have any sails, and torpedos "fire," but that can't be right.
"Navigator! The course is set for Lower Fugarwi. Verify all sensors, batten all hatches and make sure the ballast is, uh, ballasty. Once that's done, ______ forward."
"Scoot?"
"Scuttle?"
"Skulk?"
"Probe?"
"Meander?"
I'm stumped.

Proceed! That's a good one.
mosey?
gallop? glide? inch?
limp? hop? saunter?
hmmm. tough indeed. But if you stick "stealth" in there somewhere, it will all seem very convert and sub-like.
xo Wee
"Inch stealthily" paints a nice, sinister picture. Like the world's most ominous underwater caterpillar.
LURK!
power forward.
Nice try, Tom, but I don't think Charles Barkley is really a sub commander.
No, I'm going with Michelle: "Affirmative! Lurking Onward, Sir!"
