Not a Fan of Root Canals

Although my endodontist, Dr. Jim Malooley, who greets absolutely everyone he meets, every time, by shaking hands heartily and saying "Hi, I'm Jim Malooley," is an excellent doctor, and no less than inspirationally good at what he does, there's just no getting around the unpleasantness of having raw nerves sucked out of your jaw.

The only upside I can see to being conscious during the process is that if the doctor has to leave the room for a few minutes, you get the chance to snap a quick self portrait with your cell phone.

um...OW! I'm experiencing very painful flashbacks to my own Adventures in Denistry this past summer which involved not only double root canal, but periodontal surgery to cut down my gums and four appointments to have a crown primped and placed. Ickity, ickity, ick!

Hope you are recovering nicely!

Damn, Wee... that's rough. You might want to look into this "cerec" crown stuff they're doing now, where they prep you for the crown, build it and install it all in the same visit. I believe lasers are involved. Anyway, it's supposed to be no more expensive than the regular method, but only a handful of dentists are currently doing it. I plan on checking into that for my next root canal... I didn't hear about it until I'd already done the first step of this one.

I realize I now sound like one of my own blog-comment-spammers.

While I am here, I just wanted to drop a quick note to comment your blog...now to move on and continue my search for wood working clamps. I am going to

whenever I see mention of lasers and root canal together, I picture Darth Vader performing denistry with a light saber. I'll certainly keep your "cerec" crown in mind should I ever have to undergo all that uh...unmitigated JOY again, but I'm hoping I won't ever again have to revisit this whole issue. 'Cuz...ewwww.
